Workshops rotate through out the year. Class size is limited to four participants so each person can get the attention they need. If you can find a group of friends to come together on the same date I can arrange a special day for your event and subject you want taught.

Enables you to explore many different techniques for tapestry on a hand-crafted loom, which you take home for future work. This class addresses warping and different stitches to create pattern designs... including various style interlocking and slit techniques well as ways to embellish your pieces using sumac, and Egyptian knotting techniques.Trudy provides you with warp and a wide range of yarns.

In this workshop you learn how to use jeweler's tools to cut and crimp the ends of a necklace after threading a sequence through special beading wire. There is a wide range of beads of many colors, shapes and styles to select from so you can arrange the pieces in a sequence of your choosing. You will also be able to make earrings to match. After this you will have a list of many places online where you can easily order all kinds of beads and tools that will make your work easier to create and wear.

Trudy shows you how to create designs where you apply a special resist paint to draw lines and figures and then apply dyes inside the spaces with colors you choose. To get you going, you bring a few pictures with images you like that you can use to spark your imagination. I teach you how easy it is to draw shapes and select colors that reflect your personal style.

Eco Printing uses natural mordants for color and leaves to imprint shapes onto silk scarves. Trudy shares leaves gathered on her property (and purchased). Each participant creates a pattern of their design to decorate a long silk scarf. If you want to try the blanket technique that creates a colored background Trudy shares materials needed for this approach.

Experiment working with paper. Learn how to make handmade paper by working with a blender that you fill with paper you rip or cut and add food coloring to. You create a sludge to pour into a container. Then into the sludge you dip a screened frame which is where the paper made will settle. Trudy provides flowers, seeds, glitter, flashy papers to include in the paper.

Learn how to make paper college using a choice of Trudy's marbled scraps, and other decorative elements. Incorporate your magazine clippings, music sheets, whatever you can find into a collage of your own design. Add paper you have drawn on or painted to express your personal viewpoint. Learn to make these works viable and able to present without putting the works behind glass.

In this workshop you learn various Japanese book binding techniques. You can use paper you created in an earlier workshop or decorative papers including marbled samples for covers. Learn single, double and other decorative stitching patterns. Trudy provides you with an awl to stab holes into paper folded and placed inside your cover. And a choice of fibers to tie the cover and the paper bundles together.

This workshop addresses Shibori Wrap, Tie & Dyes. You can try various techniques to create different effects by tying, folding, pleating, and wrapping natural fibers before dyeing. You’ll use twine, ties, clips, bands, rods, and stones or needles and threads. Then use dye to add color around the resist items to create unique effects. As a result you will have a lovely silk scarf for you to wear as decorative art!
